Join the Residential Inclusion & Leadership Program for the 2025-2026 and/or 2026-2027 school year! As an Inclusion and Leadership Mentor, you will learn to implement and facilitate educational discussions with residents around social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion topics following a residential curriculum within University Housing. You will be working with a team of Inclusion and Leadership professionals to plan and execute large-scale events, act as liaisons to the campus cultural/resource centers, and act as liaisons to the on-campus residence halls.

Summary of the Position
Implement and facilitate educational discussions with residents around social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion topics following a residential curriculum within University Housing. Plan and execute inclusion events.
Position Duties
- Work in teams to plan and facilitate discussions and training on social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion topics following a residential curriculum within the University Housing.
- Work in teams to plan and execute large-scale events.
- Attend weekly meetings with I&L Program Coordinators.
- Work in teams to facilitate training and development on designated topics for University Housing student staff.
- Serve on a team as a liaison to one of the cultural houses/programs within the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations (OIIR).
- Serve on a team as a liaison to one of the on-campus residence halls.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
- Must be a currently enrolled UI student in good academic and disciplinary standing at time of application and through employment.
- The ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse populations.
- The expressed and demonstrated willingness to learn about students different from oneself.
- Demonstrated a base competency level that includes an understanding of the concepts of equity and inclusion and oppression, power, privilege, and white supremacy.
- The proven ability to follow through on projects.
- Experience working successfully on a team. (employment, sports, co-curriculars, etc.)
- Completion of EDUC199 within the first semester of employment.
Required Training, Development and Meetings
- Successful completion of EDUC199 to build the competencies necessary for facilitation of equity and inclusion programming.
- 8-10 hours of training prior to the start of the fall semester
- Weekly 2-hour staff meeting/staff development.
- Weekly 30-minute 1-1 meeting with supervisor.
This is an hourly student position for approximately 15 hours per week during each academic semester. The spring semester position will run from January 2025 to May 2026. The 2026-2027 school year position will run from August 2025 to May 2027 (not including breaks). Starting rate is $15/hour. Residents of University Housing will be given priority consideration in the hiring process but living in University Housing is not a requirement of the position.
